WALTER - Kathleen A. (nee Murphy) Passed away peacefully at home at age 75 on August 18, 2023. She was the beloved companion of James Watson for 30 years, loving mother of Todd (Margaret) Walter and Tara (Walter) Wilke. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was raised in Buffalo and married while attending nursing school, receiving RN and BSN degrees in Nursing and Health Care Administration Certification at SUNY Buffalo. Additionally she received an AOS degree in Business Administration at Bryant and Stratton Business Institute. During her long and distinguished career, Kathleen gained experience working as a private duty, operating room, and staff nurse. She was hired as Nurse Coordinator at the Hemophilia Center of WNY and, after two years, her success in management was recognized and she was named Executive Director, where she managed and expanded services during her 18 years there. She went on to become a Clinical Specialist in Regulatory Affairs at Graphic Controls and later a consultant to Kendall Healthcare Corporation. For her leadership in business and community endeavors, Kathleen was recognized as a Charter member of Leadership Buffalo. She was also active in many organizations including Junior League of Buffalo where she was the chair of Buffalo and NYS Public Affairs committees, representing 21 Leagues in New York State. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the League of Women Voters. Always busy and interested in many facets of life, she was an active member in several organizations including the Twentieth Century Club, UB Womens Club, Barker Street Book Club and Delaware Park Womens Golf League. She enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad, sailing on Lake Erie and the British Virgin Islands, biking and cross country skiing. After retirement, Kathleens love of travel prompted her to become a flight attendant for Allegheny Airlines. She spent many years flying to numerous destinations in the US. She was always planning the next event or trip. Reminiscing about her life, a long time friend commented, "Kathy was such an amazing inspiration and a courageous person. She certainly showed us how to live life to the fullest." There will be a private service for the immediate family. If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo.
