Maria Theresa Tollefson Zuffoletto

ZUFFOLETTO - Maria Theresa TOLLEFSON Passed away on November 2, 2017 in Chula Vista, CA. Her husband of 34 years, James Tollefson predeceased her, as did her parents, Pasquale and Mary (nee Cancilla) Zuffoletto. Maria is survived by her son, James (Dianne) Tollefson of San Diego, her daughter, Michelle (David) Rubi of Thousand Oaks, CA, grandchildren, Veronica and Vincent Pamintuan, Nicholas and Sofia Rubi, great-grandson, Christian Rivera, and two brothers, James (Roselle) Zuffoletto, of Bonita, CA, and Rev. Michael P. Zuffoletto of Clarence, NY. Maria was born and raised in Buffalo, graduating from D'Youville College. She taught at both Lafayette and Bennett High Schools before relocating to San Diego, CA, in 1967. There she taught at St. Augustine's, Our Lady of the Rosary and Marian High Schools, before becoming Principal of St. Rose of Lima Parochial School for 20 years. Later she became principal of Sacred Heart Parochial School until its closing, and was principal of St. Didacus Parochial School at the time of her death. Maria was also a local and state wide officer in the Italian Catholic Federation and taught religion for many years to Catholic recruits at MCRD, San Diego. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 7 pm on Thursday, December 28th, at St. Mary's Church, 6919 Transit Rd., East Amherst, NY. Arrangements by Lombardo funeral home (Northtowns Chapel)
