November 25, 1934 March 17, 2024 MEYERS, Marian C. (nee Rojek) of Derby, entered into rest March 17, 2024. Beloved companion of the late Bill Marx; devoted mother of Donny (Lisa), Mary Elizabeth (Jeffrey), Margaret (Vivian), John (late Brenda), and the late Jeanie; cherished grandmother of Jeffrey, Justin, Joseph, Jacob, Donald Jr., Amanda, Andrew, Samantha, Abigail, Emily, and Corey (Kalli); adored great-grandmother of 12; loving daughter of the late Walter and Bernice Rojek; also survived by many family and friends. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel) 3060 Abbott Rd. near Lake Ave. on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in SS Peter & Paul Church, 66 E Main St., Hamburg on Thursday morning at 10:30 AM. Please assemble at Church. Flowers gratefully declined. Marian began her career as a registered nurse at St. Josephs Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Later she practiced as a head nurse and supervisor at Mercy Hospital. She then became an instructor of practical nursing at BOCES #1 and the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. She was appointed as the first lay director of the registered nursing program at Trocaire College. Subsequently, she was selected as Dean of Allied Health programs and later as the Vice President for Development and Public Relations at Trocaire. After 18 years of writing and implementing federal and private grants at Canisius College, she returned to Trocaire as Director of Federal, Corporate and Government grants and subsequently was named the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement. She then assumed the role of Dean of Nursing. Prior to her retirement in 2014, she was an Adjunct Instructor in General Studies at Trocaire College. Dr. Meyers holds an earned Bachelors Degree in Nursing, a Masters Degree in Nursing and a Doctorate degree in Educational Administration. She also has earned a certificate in Gerentological Studies from Canisius College. She has acted as an educational consultant for seven other collegiate institutions and six non-profit organizations. She has served as a member of the School Board for the Hamburg School District for nine years and president of the Arthur Buchanan Foundation for five years and member of the Board of Trustees for Hospice and Palliative Care for Buffalo. She was a reader of grant proposals submitted to the U.S. Department of Education. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including induction as a member of the DI Gamma Honor Society of Canisius College.
