GENTZ - Mark S. Of Hamburg, entered into rest July 21, 2017. Beloved husband of Janice C. (nee Phillips) Gentz; devoted son of the late Calvin and Norma (nee Porter) Gentz; brother of Daniel J. (Colleen) Gentz and Neal C. (Linda) Gentz; also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may attend a memorial service at the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg, 4999 McKinley Pkwy., Hamburg, on Sunday afternoon (August 20th) at 3:30 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark's name to CHC Learning Center, 1085 Eggert Road, Amherst, NY 14226. May 12, 1955 July 21, 2017 Born in Niagara Falls, NY Resided in Hamburg, NY Ordained Pastor, Talented Multi-Modal Artist, Skilled Woodworker, Musician Creative, determined, focused, out of the box thinker, excellent problem solver, well read and very knowledgeable in many areas of life. His friends called him "The Answer Man" as he seemed to have a valid answer on a wide array of topics for any question asked. Youngest elected Lutheran Council Representative Self taught woodworker, carver, guitarist, and versatile repair/handyman Held many diverse positions throughout his life beginning with delivering The Buffalo News to several neighborhood routes for many years, Sales Position at a Seeds Supply Store, Manager of an Electronics Store, Floor and Carpet Cleaning Manager, Head Bank Teller, Automotive Mechanic, Van Driver, Furniture Restoration Supervisor, and most recently Facility Manager for CHC LEARNING CENTER, a School serving children with multiple disabilities and Kadimah Academy, a Jewish Day School. Mark preserved through 22 years of a chronic health challenge (Sarcoidosis), which required taking an oral chemotherapy medication every weekend for 21 years. While extremely ill 3 days/week in later years, he did this all while continuing to work his full time positions 4 days/week, working long hours each day. At the school where he worked, CHC Learning Center, it was important to Mark to assure compliance with all necessary regulations. However, he was even more passionate about doing everything reasonably possible to assure the safety and welfare of students, staff, and visitors to the school. With a generous heart and caring spirit, Mark often made and gave away his artistic creations to family and friends. He practiced random, frequently anonymous, acts of kindness often for strangers throughout his lifetime. Mark inspired, encouraged and motivated others to walk closely with God and to live daily to make an important difference in the lives of others.
