SCHROEDER - Mark Joseph Age 54, passed from this earth the night of April 22, 2020, at Buffalo General Hospital from complications of Covid 19. He fought hard to survive the ravages of this awful disease with the same strength and persistence that made him successful in so much of life. Mark grew up in Orchard Park and graduated from Orchard Park High School, class of 1983. He was a tremendous athlete and most notably excelled in competitive hockey. Mark attended SUNY Geneseo. Mark pursued a long career in technology sales, where he was beloved by co-workers and customers alike. Marks core sense of self was as a loving and supportive father to his children. He prioritized their well being above all else, and loved them fiercely as his shining stars. Mark was known for his eclectic taste in music spanning many genres from Pink Floyd and Iron Butterfly to Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five. In his early days of collecting music, he and friends scoured western New York for rare bootleg recordings, carefully storing each album in its own protective covering. Mark celebrated much of science-fiction, ranging from the classics like Star Wars and Blade Runner to the most popular of more modern stories like Game of Thrones and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mark was a giant Dr. Who fan, celebrating its marvel and mystery. He could undoubtedly recite every line from the Princess Bride in chorus with his children. Inconceivable. Mark is survived by his dear life partner, Amy Abbey, his three treasured children, Jeremy, Margaret and Claire of Buffalo; his beloved sister, Mary Margaret, sister-in-law Deena, niece and nephew, Isabel and Harry of San Francisco. To honor Marks memory, the family suggests donations to the SPCA serving Erie County. The four leggeds brought him great happiness.
