May F. Bieth, 93, of West Seneca, NY, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, following a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, NY on May 24, 1932, to the late George and Elizabeth Gibbon, May was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Paul (1990); brother, Norman Gibbon (2017); daughter, Nancy Schaffer (2023); and son, David (2023). She is survived by her sister-in-law, Gladys Gibbon; son-in-law, Mark Schaffer; and her nieces, Susan Gibbon Perriello and Judith Gibbon.
A proud graduate of West Seneca Central School, May worked as a secretary and receptionist at several companies, including Bethlehem Steel and the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo. Together, she and her Paul built a life and raised two children in Western New York. After Paul’s passing, May embraced travel, journeying through Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, California, and Scandinavia. She also enjoyed gardening and attending concerts.
Her spirit of generosity was evident in her 20-year long dedication to volunteering with FeedMore WNY (Meals on Wheels), and she was a longtime congregant of Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in East Aurora.
A graveside service will be held at Saint Matthews Cemetery in West Seneca at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FeedMore WNY.
