KAMM - Michael G. Of Orchard Park, entered into rest on February 2, 2022. Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Warren) Kamm; devoted father of Elizabeth (George) Stuart and Kathleen Swartz; cherished grandfather of Julie (Jeffrey), Katherine (Daniel), Jillian (Gary), the late Amanda, Kimberly (Devon), Steven, Abigail and Cassandra; adored great- grandfather of Matthew, Madison, Jeffrey, Emily, Olivia and Daniel; loving son of the late Frank and Audrey Kamm; dear brother of Carol (Peter) Mueller and brother-in-law to Gerald (Louise) Warren. After receiving a degree from Erie Community College, Michael joined the 107th Air National Guard at Niagara Falls in 1960 where he served as a jet mechanic and flightline crew chief. His military career spanned 33 years taking him to Vietnam where he proudly served his country, earning 26 medals including Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Stars, and the Presidential Unit Citation. Michael immediately embarked upon his second career transporting precious cargo to and from Orchard Park schools. Mr. Mike as he was affectionately known by his students, commenced a 21-year bus run that gave him the opportunity to do something he truly loved... talking to children and parents alike. Perhaps his greatest lifelong endeavor was his involvement with the Reserve Hose Fire Company as a 60-year volunteer fireman. During his tenure, he climbed the ranks from Lieutenant through Captain and served as a Training Officer. Michael was elected to the position of Financial Secretary, serving for over 15 years; and in 1976 was elected Treasurer, a position he held for 19 years until moving on to serve as Vice President and then fire company President. He went on to become Sergeant at Arms, a position he held through 2021. In 2020 Michael was nominated for Erie County Volunteer Fire Service Award and Recognition for Lifetime Achievement Award for 50+ years of service. Michaels life was filled with family, devoted neighbors, friendships spanning over 60 years, the love of his hometown sports teams, Boy Scouts, class reunion activities, boating, and hunting. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel) on Saturday (April 2nd) from 1-3 PM. A Funeral Service will immediately follow.
