Michael K. Torres

TORRES - Michael K. (November 9, 1948 - March 29, 2021) Michael went home to be with his Lord on March 29, 2021. He passed at age 72 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Buffalo, NY and was a graduate of Trocaire College where he received his Associates in Nursing. He furthered his education at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) and Erie Community College (ECC). After receiving his Registered Nurse (RN) degree, he began a long and accomplished career as a head nurse at ECMC in the emergency psychiatric unit. His career spanned 37 years until his retirement, he then continued his service for another 15 years. He served on the Board of Directors for nonprofit agencies and was an advocate for the African American Heritage Corridor. Michael had many talents including architecture, remodeling homes and gardening. Perhaps his greatest gift was that of fellowship; he hosted many events at his home for family and friends. Michael was a pillar for his family, he was known for gathering friends and family together in friendship and love. Michael was preceded in death by his mother Norma Lidge, beloved grandmother Elease Griffin Lidge, and grandfather Adam Lidge. Michael was the oldest of five siblings Ronald, Stephen (predeceased), Antonio (Monique), Dennis (predeceased), Christopher (Lydia). Michael leaves a host of adored nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
