It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Zannella Jr., who entered eternal rest on June 7, 2026, at the age of 92, in Wheatfield, New York.
Michael was born on October 28, 1933, in Buffalo, New York, to Philomena (née Salvatore) and Michael Zannella. One of seven children, he was predeceased by his siblings, Michael Miranda (KIA), Anthony Miranda (KIA), Louis Zannella, Vito Zannella, Carmella (Thomas) Santarsiero, and Mary (Peter) Todoro.
A proud patriot, Michael served his country honorably in the United States Army as an airborne paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. Following his military service, he dedicated more than 30 years to Bell Aerospace, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to both his profession and his family.
Michael enjoyed bowling and golfing and especially treasured traveling the world with his beloved wife and children. He also gave generously of his time as a volunteer firefighter with Adam's Fire Department. A devoted Roman Catholic, Michael will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, steadfast faith, and the love he shared with family, friends, and all who knew him.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Marie Zannella (née Clinch), who passed away in 2016. Together they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Therese (Barry) Dubetsky, Colette DeCarlo, and Patrice (Robert) Schuster; his cherished grandchildren, Ariel (Adam) Meyers, Sabrina Schuster, Kelsey (Andrew) Szpylman, Corinne (Nicholas) Manfredi, and Blake (Amber) Schuster; eight beloved great-grandsons, who brought him immense pride and joy, and his many loving nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 9:30AM on Monday, June 15, at St. Christopher's Parish, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst. Further service details will be announced by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Adam's Fire Department, 7113 Nash Rd. N. Tonawanda, N.Y. 14120, in Michael's memory.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the V.A. Western New York Healthcare System, Niagara Hospice, and Adam's Fire Department for their compassionate care, support, and kindness during Michael's final days.
Michael will be deeply missed, forever loved, and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
