Peter M. Gornicki

GORNICKI, Peter - of Grand Island, joined our heavenly father on October 6, 2023. Cherished husband of 31 years to Charlene Gornicki. Beloved father of Victoria (Dan Fajerstein) Sawma, Michele (Tim) Threlkeld, stepfather to Michelle (Matt) Cryer, and the late Mark Ivey. Loving grandfather of Juliana Sawma, the late Chloe Sawma, Timothy Threlkeld, Adam Threlkeld, Laura Threlkeld, James (Sydney) Cryer, Jacob Cryer, and Jocelyn Cryer. Son of the late Michael and Helen Gornicki. Brother of Janie Wisniewski, Judie (Roger) Ketch, and the late Rita (Richard) Capizzi. He was a prayerful man, saying his beloved rosary two times a day. A passionate "do-it-yourselfer", Peter could repair anything, was an avid gardener, and loved animals. He honorably served in the Army National Guard. He loved his daily routine of working out and continued to do so with such discipline that he won his health club "member of the month" award, and this was at age 82. Relatives and friends may visit LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Northtowns Chapel) 885 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst, (near Eggert Rd.) on Saturday November 18 from 9:30-11:00 where the funeral service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA and the Salvation Army.
