Rachael Leigh Netter, 48, of Buffalo, New York, entered into eternal life on February 22, 2025.
Rachael was the devoted mother of Sontos Netter and Eloise Netter; adored daughter of John Eugene Cartonia and Donna LaRue (Winston) Fritz; loving stepdaughter of Robert (Andrea) Williams; cherished sister of John D. (Samantha) Cartonia, Angela (Thomas) Yartz, Elizabeth Cartonia, Alyssa Verge, Stephanie Willis, and Lauren Cartonia; and dear stepsister of Marina (David) Loncz and Christine (Sean) Butcher. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Rachael will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, giving, and resilient person. She was deeply dedicated to her family and fiercely loved her children, Sontos and Eloise, whom she treasured above all else. A passionate believer in Christ, Rachael enjoyed reading the Bible, journaling, and spending time in devotions. She found peace and strength in her faith and was known for her kind and compassionate heart, as she cared deeply about those who were less fortunate than her.
As a child, Rachael was adventurous, energetic, and fearless. Her mother remembers her diving in the pool at two years old, loving dolphins, and aspiring to be a marine biologist when she grew up. Because of her early interest in marine life, Rachael had the most unique pets, like snakes, iguanas, and fish.
Rachael maintained a strong work ethic across all areas of her life. She worked as a painter for her stepfather’s business and had many other hobbies like trying new recipes with her son, Sontos, and growing vegetables with her daughter, Eloise. She also had a love of cooking for others, especially her two sisters, and found joy in music and making people laugh with her sharp sense of humor.
Throughout her life, Rachael demonstrated incredible resilience and strength. While her journey was not easy, it was marked by her courage, determination, and desire to overcome the struggles she faced. Rachael lived by her favorite verse from the Bible, Ephesians 6:10-11, which reads, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” She was an active and beloved member of Collateral Hope & Recovery, a Christ-centered fellowship of people serving addicted populations and supporting the loved ones and communities that often become collateral damage as a result of addiction.
Private services will be held for Rachael’s close family and friends. A celebration of Rachael’s life will be announced in the future.
