Richard C. 'Dick' LaBend, 97, of Cheektowaga, entered into rest on August 15, 2024. Beloved husband of Gloria (nee Rynkowski) LaBend; devoted father of Richard (Lisa) LaBend and Rand (Annemarie) LaBend; adored stepfather of Deborah Acanfora (Howard) and Karen (David) Zelak; cherished grandfather of Brandon LaBend, Trevor LaBend, Patrick (Elizabeth) Wannicki, Michael Acanfora, Jason Acanfora, Alexa (Andre Monroe) Zelak and Jacob Zelak and 2 great-grandchildren; loving son of the late Chester and Anna (nee Opiela) Labendzki; dear brother of the late Fred Labendski and Shirley Christiano; also survived by a nephew and 2 nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Martyrs Church, 180 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga on Wednesday, August 21 at 9:30 am. Entombment with military honors at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Dick was an avid golfer and a Navy WWII and Korean War veteran. Online condolences may be made on this page.
