. Schmitz - Richard W. II Of Grand Island, NY. Passed away March 2, 2022. Beloved husband of Claudia R. (nee Saramak) Schmitz. Devoted father of Rachel Alix, Jill Metz and Ricky (Leanne) Schmitz. Loving grandfather of Hailey, Ava, Emily, Cayden, Mya, Kendall, Kennedy, Chase and Thomas. Dearest brother to Karen Diamond. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Northtowns Chapel), 885 Niagara Falls Blvd., near Eggert/Sheridan, from 3-8 PM on Sunday, where prayers will be held on Monday morning at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at St. Stephens Church 2100 Baseline Road Grand Island, NY at 11 AM. Interment at St. Stephens Cemetery. Richard was a brave military member of the Air Force. He was a lifelong Buffalo Bills season ticket holder since 1964.Richard also enjoyed spending time at local and NASCAR tracks throughout the years. Richard was a retired Buffalo Police Officer having proudly served his community for 34 years. Donations can be made in Richards honor to ASPCA or Hospice Buffalo.
