Lee Richard Thomas of Buffalo entered into rest on February 13, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Richard was the loving and devoted husband of the late Louise Saxbury Lee. He was the caring son of the late Raymond and Dolores Lee. Richard is survived by his loving son David and wife Kara, and his daughter Gretchen and husband Ronald Lussier. He adored the time spent with his grandchildren: Madeline, Declan, Emma, and Andrew. Rich is survived by brother Msgr. Rev. David M. Lee. He was the brother of the late Cathy (George) Palz and the late Martin R. Lee. He also is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Paulette Saxbury, Kathleen (late Jack) Donohue, Patrick Puckhaber, Peggy Chadwick-Ledwon (Dennis), Mary Jo Trevett, Mark Puckhaber (Debra), Francis Puckhaber, Kelly Chadwick, Kevin Puckhaber, and the late Robert Puckhaber. Richard also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit the Lombardo Funeral Home at 3060 Abbott Rd., Orchard Park, NY 14127 on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 3 PM - 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 3148 Abbott Rd., Orchard Park on Friday at 11:30 oclock (please assemble at church). Richard attended Canisius High School and College, after which he was commissioned in the army. After his honorable service as an Intelligence Officer, he attended the University at Buffalo and earned a Masters in Social Work. Richard spent his career in the service of others, from his beginning working at Baker Hall with at-risk kids, as a District Representative for Congressman John LaFalce, and leading governmental relations for the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County. His passion in life was always to help others, all it took was one phone call and Richard would be your personal advocate and social worker.
