Age 97, of Buffalo, entered into eternal rest on April 21, 2026. Loving son of the late Antonio and Marianna (nee Casino) Zupa and dear brother of the late Anne A. Zupa, Michael (Margaret) Zupa, Angelo (Mary) Zupa, Anthony Zupa, James (Ruth) Zupa, Carl Zupa, Augustine D. (Mireille) Zupa, Rev. Msgr. Emil P. Zupa, Frederico Zupa, Marie (Peter) Costa, Rocco (Eleanor) Zupa and Lucille Z. (Sam) Christopher.
Beloved uncle of John (Ellen) Zupa, Anthony (Karen) Zupa, late Mary Zupa, Sharlon (John) Kinnear, Susan (Michael) Norsen; Larry (Pam) Costa, Peter (Anne) Costa, Emil Costa, Vincenza Costa, and Maria (Matthew) Yee, among many others. Cherished great-uncle to many loving nieces and nephews.
Richard served in the United States Army in the Korean War. After his service, he returned to Buffalo and entered a long, fruitful career at Moog, Inc., retiring after 39 years at the company. He was an avid gardener, a fan of baseball, hockey, and football, and a wonderful cook, hosting holiday dinners for his extended family for more than 30 years. Throughout his life, he most enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the peace of the woods at a camp shared with lifelong friends near Algonquin National Park.
No prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Leo the Great Church on Monday, April 27 at 9:15AM (please assemble at church). Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
