Rita Ann Richter

Age 86, of Tonawanda, beloved wife and mother, entered the gates of heaven peacefully, surrounded by her family. Proud mother of eight children, Michael, Amy (John) Pope, Mark (Mandy), James (Brenda), John (Jennifer), Mary and Meaghan (Dan) Olivia; predeceased by infant son John Gabriel. Twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Rita is survived by many nieces and nephews. United at last with her infant son John Gabriel, and beloved husband of 61 years, Jerry. Predeceased by her beloved parents, Francis and Eleanor Walder, sisters Regina Reuther and Kathleen (Harold) Rhinehart, also brother John (Barbara) Walder. Survived by cherished sisters Mary Louise (late Laurence) DArcy and Patricia (late James) Carr, also Nancy (late Russell) Caldwell, Chera Lachut, Nora (Kevin) Eberz, Therese (Robert) Perrino and James (Kathryn) Walder. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel) 885 Niagara Falls Blvd (near Eggert/ Sheridan Dr.) Amherst on Monday (7/1) from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (7/2) morning at 9:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church, 263 Claremont Ave. Tonawanda (please assemble at church). Rita was a mother first, last and always. She also cared for many children placed in her tender care over the years. She was a staunch supporter of Catholic education a member of the PTA and Bereavement Committee at Blessed Sacrament. Ritas Irish eyes were always smiling, and are sure to be looking down on us from above.
