Roddy Rhodes Rogers

ROGERS - Roddy Rhodes February 20, 2019, age 85. Loving husband of Mary (nee Angstadt); devoted father of Julia (Dave Mazierski) and Diana (Harald Harb); and proud grandfather to Evan and Rachel. The only child of Frank and Inez Rogers, of Baytown, Texas, Roddy developed an early interest in meteorology, sparked by the dramatic weather of the Gulf of Mexico. He went on to study at the University of Texas, M.I.T., and N.Y.U., and then worked at Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory as a research physicist for seven years. His research and academic career took him to places including Greenland, Hawaii, Peru, Estonia, Italy and California, often accompanied by his wife. Roddy retired from McGill University (Montral) in 1998, after 33 years as professor in the Department of Meteorology. He and Mary moved to Washington, DC, where Roddy served five years as program director for physical meteorology at the National Science Foundation. He leaves friends and colleagues around the world.
