Ron Newton, 83, of Clarence, entered into rest on December 29, 2022, after a long illness. Beloved husband of almost 60 years to Margaret 'Peggy' (Bitterman) Newton. Father of Robert (Tina), Brian, Sr. (Karen) and Linda (Jeff) Andrews. Forever cherished and remembered by his 4 grandchildren, Savannah, Breanna, John and Brian Jr. Ron was predeceased by his mother and father, Helen and Woodrow Newton and his grandson Jordin Andrews. Brother-in-law of Marian (Bitterman) and Joe Smyth, Bill and MaryLou Bitterman and the late Arleen (Bitterman) and Paul Besser. Ron was a longtime resident of Kenmore where he was a member of the Kenmore Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus. After graduating from college, he became a member of the Air National Guard and then the Air Force Reserves. After marrying Peggy on May 11, 1963, they moved to the Town of Tonawanda where they became members of St. Andrews Church. He then became a member of the Holy Name Society. Ron loved to bowl and play golf. One of his hobbies was growing a beautiful rose garden in their back yard. He, Peggy and the children loved to go camping. In 1983, Ron and Peggy and their three children moved to Clarence. At this time is when he took on another hobby growing several kinds of fruit trees. His main hobby was woodworking. We all have pieces of furniture that attest to his skill and passion. Later in life, as their children got married and started their own families, Ron retired from the Federal Government as a Safety Inspector. He continued to be involved in his community in Clarence as a member of the town Zoning and Planning Board as well as an usher for 20 years at St. Mary's Church. Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren and was never shy about dispensing advice and wisdom. The success of his children and grandchildren was a great source of joy and sharing their achievements brought him great happiness. A celebration of Ron's life will take place with a gathering beginning at 10am and Mass following at 10:30am on Saturday May 6, 2023, at St. Mary's Church, 6919 Transit Road, East Amherst, NY 14051.
