Ross Charles Oar

Ross Charles Oar, 83 of West Falls NY, passed away on January 25th peacefully after a short illness. He was born on May 24, 1939 to Arnold and Helen Oar, of Buffalo, NY. Ross graduated from Springville-Griffith Institute in 1958 where he was a star Basketball player and noted athlete. After graduating Ross joined the Navy and continued to play basketball throughout his service. Once he was honorably discharged, he began his career at Graphic Controls as a manager where he gained many lifelong friends. Ross was also an accomplished Master Carver, he competed in many carving shows and won many awards. He held several patents. Ross published multiple carving books and was a teacher to many in the carving field. Ross beloved husband and father, married Barbara J. Denzel in the year September 1962. Together they had three children: Eric, Ross and Jennifer. He is predeceased by Barbara J. Oar and his second wife Joan Crow . He is survived by his brother Bill, sister Edna, his three children, six grandchildren: Nathan, Alex, Morgan, Spencer, Logan, Nick and two great grandchildren: Averie and Rosalie. Services will be held at St. Pauls Lutheran Church - 53 West Falls Road, West Falls, NY 14170 on February 5, 2023 at 2:00pm-4:00.
