Serena J. Cook

On October 7, 2023, Serena Joy Cook entered into eternal rest after a brief illness. She was born on October 15, 1930, to the late Anthony and Mamie (Pittro) Joy of Fredonia, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John W. Cook. Loving mother of Joy Cook Russo, Lisa (late John) Spang, John R (Mary Beth Willis) Cook, and Moira (John) Rosen. Cherished grandmother to Gina Russo, Karinna (Marc Thomas) Spang, Ethan (Reem) Spang, Erica (Daniel) Spang-Morgan, Allie (Ian) Smith, Matthew (Sarah Ryan) and Cassandra Rosen. She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Joy, Russell Joy, Sam Joy and Catherine Jackson. Serena loved to spend time with family at her home on Lake Erie. A creative and dedicated elementary school teacher with a lifelong passion for teaching children and adults to read. She was a talented writer of childrens short stories and reading programs. She also loved to create beautiful, pressed flower designs. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthonys RC Church Fredonia (42 Orchard St, Fredonia, NY 14063) on November 4th at 10:00 AM. Interment at St. Anthonys cemetery.
