Terry was the fifth youngest of six boys born to James Augustus and Evelyn Gertrude Rainey who proceeded him in death. His brothers Joseph A. (Shirley), Melvin G., Douglas L., Leslie J. (Mildena) and Steve (Evelyn J) all grew up in the house owned by their parents. All but Douglas and Steve have preceded him in death. Terry leaves his brother Douglas, Steve, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and other relatives to cherish his memory and celebrate his life on earth.


Early years growing up:


Terry was a happy and quiet boy and had a wonderful childhood. He was the youngest of six boys to his parents James A. and Evelyn G. Rainey. His hobbies, interests were drawing making model cars and planes, painting, collecting music, dreaming how to get out of Buffalo, and listening to music.


He had many neighborhood friends and enjoyed beating them in marbles, horseshoes, checkers, cards, racing, dodge ball, Terry grew up on the east side of Buffalo NY, and attended public school fifty-three, Woodlawn junior high, and East High. He was the recipient of many high school awards, including best dressed and most likely to succeed. Terry was an above average student.


He completed his college degree in psychology at Canisius College in Buffalo.


Work Career:


Terry’s first job was working at the Buffalo Public Library as a page and continued there part-time after school until he graduated in 1968. He continued to work for the library until graduating college. Terry continued his career in insurance claims spanning over several years for the Hartford Insurance company until the company left Buffalo.


Character traits: Terry’s most memorable traits were his kindheartedness and love and generosity for his family.
