Thomas S. Fite, Sr.

Thomas “Tom” S. Fite Sr, of Cattaraugus, NY passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025. He was 70 years old.

Thomas was born on July 9, 1955 in Buffalo, NY to the late Stephen and Gertrude (nee Walter) Fite. He graduated from Frontier High School with the class of 1973.

On November 23, 1979, Tom was united in marriage to the love of his life Jackie Carter. They spent over 40 years together. She preceded him in death on May 6,2022.

He was an avid outdoorsman, finding great joy in taking his grandchildren hunting. As a family they often took camping trips to Friendship and Allegany State Park, where they created special memories and shared countless laughs around a fire. He loved his Dobermans and wolves. You could usually find him watching NASCAR races on Saturdays or Sundays. He will be missed for his sense of humor.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children; Thomas S. (Melissa) Fite Jr, Tiffiny (Joe Eckelberry) Fite and Bryan (Paige Hayden) Fite; his seven grandchildren, Thomas S. Fite III, Caitlin Fite, Trent Oatman, Aedyn Fite, Conner Fite, Keegan Fite and Sullivan Eckelberry, his sister Rosanne.

He was preceded in death by his sister Karen.

Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel), 3060 Abbott Rd., near Lake Ave., on Thursday (July 17th) from 4-6 PM, where a Prayer Service will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s honor may be made to the Cattaraugus Rod and Gun Club, PO Box 123, Cattaraugus, NY 14719.

The family would like to thank the staff at Jenny B Nursing Home for their exceptional care towards Tom and the family over the last year.
