Tonya Jeanne Balash (nee DeBergalis) of North Tonawanda entered into rest on September 11, 2025. She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Matthew; her cherished daughter, Casey; her three treasured grandchildren, Madilyn, Presley, and Cairo. Tonya was the loving daughter of the late Louis (Chris) DeBergalis, and Florilyn (late Neil) Mckillen and sister of Jackie (Steven) Criola and late Jeffery (Bridget) DeBergalis. She also leaves behind her most prized companions, her puppies Tula and Fanny. Born on March 16, 1962 in Buffalo, NY, Tonya lived a life centered on love and family. Her greatest joy was being “Gaga” to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Known for her warmth and generosity, Tonya could often be found in the kitchen, cooking and feeding everyone who walked through her door. Her home was always filled with the aroma of her meals, the laughter of her family, and the comfort of her open and welcoming heart. Outside the kitchen, Tonya found joy in decorating her home, her garden, and her love of animals. She nurtured not only her loved ones, but also the families of deer who visited her yard daily. Her compassion extended to every creature, great and small. Tonya’s legacy is one of love, selflessness, and devotion. She will be deeply missed by her husband, daughter, grandchildren, and all who had the blessing of knowing her. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Lombardo Funeral Home from 3:00–7:00 p.m.
