Vincent Baudo, Jr. 92, passed away peacefully at home under Hospice Care surrounded by loving family. An Air Force veteran, he enlisted at age 17. He was stationed with Occupying Forces in Tokyo as a Communications Specialist when the war in Korea broke out and Sergeant Baudo played a large role in secret coding and messaging with command outposts. Coming back stateside, Vince worked for General Motors in Tonawanda before joining the then fledgling WBEN TV and Radio. Older residents of the Buffalo area will remember him as one of the producers of the smash hit "Breakfast at the Yankee Doodle Room," a live radio show broadcast daily from AM&As Department Store. Vince was always introduced as the "Young Danny Thomas" because of his then striking resemblance to the legendary comic and philanthropic founder of St. Judes Hospital for Children. He was well known for his bit with host John Corbet where they usually opened the show with a flying tea cup. After a 17-year stint, Vince changed course joining Lawson Products and because a top producer and sales manager before retiring. Always one to stay active, he joined the Amherst Senior Center where his friends called him the "Mayor" as he was often seen advocating for new ideas. He started a traveling pool league with other centers in the area and captained his team to a championship the very first year. A lifelong accordionist and an avid golfer in his later years, he walked the course and played three times a week until his mid 80s. A devoted family man, he and his wife enjoyed traveling the world and enjoying their Canadian lakeside cottage. Vince is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rosemarie; beloved daughter, Julie (Charles) DiPiazza; cherished grandchildren, Christina Marie DiPiazza, Joseph Vincent (Melissa) DiPiazza and Amanda Rose DiPiazza; dear brother, Ned (Anna) Baudo, dear sister, Mary Jane (late Frank) Broncato and the late Serina (Carl) Smith and fond brother-in-law of Daniel (Sherry) Kornacki. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Private services were held. Donations may be made in Vincents name to Hospice Buffalo. Condolences may be on this page.
