William G. Bates

William G. Bates of North Boston, NY entered into rest on December 20th, 2025 after a long illness. Husband of 62 years to Joanne Bates (nee Pound); father of Michele (Raymond Jr) Rutkowski, and the late Bob Bates and Tracy Bates; loving grandfather of Hannah, Raymond III, and Kristin Rutkowski; brother of Thomas (Diana) Bates, Victoria (David) Lalomia, Margaret (Robert) Braun, and the late Kathleen (late John) Quick; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Bill was a drummer, drum tech, biker, hockey coach, and more. A true musician’s musician, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, which he wore as a badge of honor.
